Giving & Receiving Blessings

Hey,

Sorry for the hiccup between emails.  After sending all those photos this morning my account got shut down by gmail because it flagged it as suspicious.  So we went to some shops and then did some Frisbee golf to kill some time.

Big news:   M GOT BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the news today from elders in Omaha.  She’s been praying and keeps getting the same answer over and over that she should be baptized so she went ahead and did it.  Now U really wants to follow her footsteps, and she’s introduced the missionaries to her brother and they're teaching him.  Also, O and J finally got married this month.

We had our Stake Conference yesterday up in Kearney.  It was great.  We had five investigators make the hour trip to it and even got a couple less actives to go as well.  One of those less actives we were able to reactivate after only having to pass by her house.  We found her name on the ward list, went by, and found out that she doesn't come only because she doesn't have a ride and it’s too far of a walk.  We got her a ride and now she’s coming back.  We didn't get to fully enjoy the conference too much ourselves as the Spanish elders were needed to translate the conference in a separate room.  An interesting thing that I did hear was that after the announcement at General Conference about the new ages the following week there was a 471% increase in missionary applications.  Also, our mission is expected to receive tons of new missionaries pretty soon, to the point that every unit in the mission will be filled be it group, branch, or ward.

We got the package, thank you so much!  We're excited for Halloween, we're going to watch 17 Miracles and eat chili dogs. 

We got a ton of new investigators this week.  We were trying less actives on our ward list that we hadn't contacted yet and ran into three siblings that invited us in and wanted to hear what we had to say.  We also have begun teaching the granddaughter (11 yrs old) of a woman in our ward.  She had been taught before by some elders and had almost been baptized but she was forgotten about after both the elders were transferred.  We set her to be baptized on Nov 17 if she is ready and knows everything, and if not she'll be baptized Dec. 24 to follow a family tradition they have.  On top of that we found a nice young couple with four kids who let us in easily and listened to the first lesson.  They would make sweet converts; the only problem is they believe heavily in the saints so we'll see what comes of that.

We were called upon to provide priesthood blessings to a single mother and her kids.  They have all been struck with the flu for the past couple weeks so we went over and gave her a blessing along with her 5 children.

There was a funny moment this week when we got to see a fight.  Our neighbors are always getting drunk and having parties.  One day we were in our car and we saw two of them go out into the middle of the street trying to hit one another.  The hysterical part was that they were both drunk out of their minds and were swaying back and forth hardly getting anywhere near each other with their punches.
