Bingo & Blessings

We've been looking for a new apartment this past week since our current location is proving ridiculous and unsanitary with the roaches and all.  We found one that is a little above what the mission prefers to spend but we're praying we get it.  It’s an old gothic school that’s been converted into apartments and it’s awesome!! The apartment we want is a loft style with two stories, high ceilings and walls, and tons of security.  Hopefully we get it; the office should be working on it today.

We set a young girl named A for baptism in two weeks.  She’s been eight for a awhile and has wanted to be baptized but in her house it’s not a huge priority.  Her mom is a recently reactivated member and her dad isn’t a member.  We're excited to see her baptized.

C and S came again to church this week and even fed us and another companionship this past week.  They have the same number of children as the bishop so we had his family come to their house for an evening.  We played spiritual bingo with the kids, using Smarties as markers and Airheads as prizes.  We then taught the entire family how to pray in Spanish.  We're planning to set C for baptism sometime soon (hopefully tomorrow) and then we also need set them for marriage as well.

We had a spiritual experience this past week with giving a blessing.  Late in the evening a member called us to see if we could give his sister a blessing of health and support.  She’s not a member and has been divorced for the past 6 months.  When she became divorced she was given the cold shoulder by her sisters who are Jehovah Witness and sunk into a deep depression.  She’s been separated from her children for the past while and has struggled with suicidal thoughts.  The member picked us up and took us to his house.  We explained what a blessing was to her and asked if she wanted one.  She didn’t seem to care but allowed us to go ahead.  We gave the blessing and her mother came to into the room to watch (she’s catholic).  Afterwards she thanked us and smiled a couple times.  Afterwards the member told us that he hasn’t seen his sister smile in months and that those couple sincere smiles after the blessing were a huge blessing to him.
