Banking the Shot

Hey there,

So it’s a new transfer with Elder Rasmussen as my companion.  We get along really well and I'm excited for what’s to come.  Your questions:

Any new teaching opportunities?  We have a couple new investigators.  The first one is J.  We got her as a referral from Omaha where her sister is a member.  She wants to make God a bigger priority in her life so asked if we could come by.  The first time we met her we had to drive all the way out to Eustis because we didn’t have her number but thankfully she was home.  She seemed really interested and attentive to the message.  The second new investigator is G.  He was a potential from a long time ago that we were able to get in contact with and he seemed interested.  An old man came into the house mid-lesson and sat down to watch tv but ended up just watching and listening into us.

Does Elder Rasmussen run?  Yes.  He really wants to lose weight, especially after having served in Omaha, so we run every morning.  He was a big soccer player before his mission.  He does enjoy running though because it is the best form of exercise we've got out here.

Is the cold brutal?  Not really.  I've got good gear so it’s not that bad and this year is a mild winter anyways.

So a couple cool things happened this week.  The night before transfers Elder Vawdrey and I were making the rounds trying to say good bye to everyone.  We went to the church because it was activities night and the bishop was there, and we had the opportunity to help him out.  The bishop was in charge of the young men that night and was talking to them about missions so when we walked in he invited us to stay and to share testimony.  It was a sweet opportunity to have an effect on the youth.

We've started something new.  We're going to play basketball at seven in the morning on Saturdays now with the bishop, K (a YMCA staff member), and others.  We're hoping word will get around and it will grow with tons of potentials.  We had a great time and I was actually banking a lot of shots for once.  K was taking it easy on us though.  She was offered the chance to play in the WNBA but turned it down for marriage.  She’s awesome and we are becoming well trusted by her and others at the YMCA.

We ran into a crazy girl on the street yesterday as we were tracting.  She ran at us and asked what we were doing and if we like to wear high heels.  Then she ran away laughing hysterically.  It added some flavor to a boring day.  Not much else happened I'll talk to you next week.
