Old Market

Hey,

Good news, A had her interview with the bishop and will be baptized this Saturday!  We're moving F and M’s baptism back a week because their family didn’t come to church (due to  their car breaking down), but they’re really excited for it.  Every time we go over and teach them F always wants to say the pray and we always hear both of them bragging to their friends that they're going to be baptized.  We're hoping to get M and Fa back on the baptism boat pretty soon as well.  We've stopped teaching them for awhile because Fa has been dealing with a brain tumor and awaiting surgery.  Someone donated the necessary money and he had the operation and is doing fine, but it seems that he'll need one more surgery.  We're helping them as best as we can right now, being there to lend them the support that they need.

We had another amazing pday this past week.  We went to the old market downtown and visited all the shops.  There's tons of antique shops, art galleries, cafes, etc.  We both bought new ties.  I picked up a sock tie at goodwill that was made in West Germany back in the day of the wall.  We also found hand woven blankets from Mexico for only $10 so we each bought one.  It's so stinking comfy I love it!  We're planning on visiting more shops today and doing some window shopping.

We had a couple opportunities for service.  Firstly, we spent time helping F get all the legal information she needs to get a work license, drivers license, and complete her GED.  It took several hours of jumping through hoops trying to get the info, and she has a lot of work ahead of her, but it helped.  Then this Saturday we removed paint from a house in North O.  We did it with the help of the winter quarters singles ward and had a good time.  We're going back tonight to begin painting the house.

So I don’t know why it is but every time a couple of newbies are left in charge of the area we rock.  This happened this last week with exchanges when I was with Elder Pese in my area (Elder Pese came out a transfer after me).  We taught tons of lessons, got a new investigator, and found a sweet new potential.  We knocked the potential's door and he came out in the middle of getting a haircut from his mom (“I” is 20 and working from home).  We told him who we were and he told us that he had actually been thinking about God a lot recently.  A couple months ago he got into a pretty serious car accident where he flipped the car several times; he walked away with only a couple scratches and thanks God for it.  We told him a little about our message and asked if he would be interested in hearing it.  He told us that he actually would be interested in hearing it, but at the time he was busy.  I'm excited to go back and start teaching him, he seems sweet.

Finally the weather has cooled down!  This past week the temp has been in the 80s and today it’s in the 70s.  We're in heaven.  We go outside and our shirts don’t immediately get drenched in sweat.  Tracting is actually enjoyable again.
