And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them. Love Notes

Hey there,

Thanks to everyone that sent their love for my birthday, it was much appreciated! It’s weird to think I’m officially no longer a teenager, but o well, life moves on.

So, we had high hopes for baptismal sets last week and since then we have bombed. Our three sets (L and her two sons E and J) had to be turned over because they decided they would rather attend an English ward. As is the case with a lot of the people we work with its Spanish at home and English at school so a lot of the kids don’t honestly comprehend a lot of Spanish. They're amazing at understanding commands, but when it comes to understanding a speaker they're lost. So for the sake of her kids, L decided English. We also were expecting to commit a couple named L and J whom Elder Boyer and I had tracted into when Elder Samuel went off on an exchange. They had possessed tons of interest and if we could work around their incredibly busy schedule they would have been golden, but their family mud-racked our church to the point that Janet seemed scared to even let us in again. Apparently her family had a run in with the FLDS church in Texas. We threw all church doctrine we could at them; scripture, testimony, history, a general conference address, but to no avail. They were too scared to continue investigating and said they would prefer to stick with their own church. So with those two situations our weekly goals for baptismal sets were washed down the drain, but we have faith that with obedience and further finding, the Lord will bless us with a family prepared to hear this message.

So last p-day we tried something new and went to the bass pro shop here in the bluffs. It was sweet! Holy cow it was amazing, Elder Boyer was getting trunky just walking around because he used to be a hunter. We're planning to go back again, hopefully today, to explore the hidden wonders of that place.

We did another transfer this week where Elder Boyer and I actually got a replacement companion for Elder Samuel. Not much happened however. The main highlight was we were taken for dinner with the other set of elders by multi-millionaires from Omaha. They were hysterical. They apparently live in an apartment of a complex they own (just run of the mill), they come to the Wal-Mart in the bluffs to recycle bottles for change, and they watch how much they spend at an average Mexican restaurant. I guess that’s what got them rich in the first place. The husband likes gospel discussions so when everyone was seated he began his discourse on his personal deep doctrine concerning the plan of salvation (I'm sure you can appreciate that dad with high priests quorum); interesting opinions, but all skeptical.

I got my first love notes since being on the mission. We were teaching a family (parents: J and V, children: B, Br, and E) and the little girls (probably 6 and 7) started handing us papers on which they had drawn their family in stick figures and then written 'I love you', 'love love love', and what not. We may need to be emergency transferred for that. We were worried that no one would feed us on Easter but thankfully the Lord answered our prayers and a sweet old lady from the council bluffs stake fed us. She made sure we ate to exhaustion and you could see she did the same with her pets (1 dog, 2 cats) all of whom are fat. One deserves special mention however. One cat, named Mr. Cuddles, is HUGE! We would put him on his back and he would either lie there forever, or take 10 minutes to roll onto his stomach. Words cannot describe how fat this cat is. We had great fun taking pictures of him and mocking him, I'm not sure he was so appreciative. So that’s all to report, thanks everyone for the mail and support!
